1) Behind the times  

Meaning: to be old-fashioned; to have outdated ideas; to lack latest information

Examples:

His grandparents don’t have a smartphone, they’re really behind the times.

She’s not a good teacher. She’s behind the times in teaching methods.

2) It’s high time

Meaning: it’s the right time to do something; to refer to something that should have already been done.

Examples:

They’ve been dating for 8 years. It’s high time they get married!

I think it’s high time I quit this job. It only makes me depressed.

3) Ahead of time

Meaning: in advance; at an earlier time

Examples:

She has to finish the task ahead of time.

I completed the work 6 days ahead of time.

4) To call time on

Meaning: to finish or to end something: to indicate that something is complete

Examples:

We had to call time on our business because of the recession.

The runner is ready to call time on his career.

5) Big time

Meaning: to do something on a large scale

Examples:

This time he messed up big time.

I improved big time this weekend.
